From a young age I have always been interested in the arts and fascinated with things that moved. I left school at 16 to study Illustration back in my home town in North Wales. After completing a 4 year ND/HND in Illustration, I ventured out of Wales to Birmingham completing a Degree in Visual Communication. It was at this time I spotted a animated short produced by a final year student, it blew my mind. Within a few months I picked up 3D studio Max and made a start on my first short 'Frog & Peach'. After winning a student award for my final end of term short 'Meat Daisy The Cow' I was taken on at a Houdini based company in London. Over the 3 years at Realise Studio I was trained up in Side FX Houdini where I was involved with all aspects of CG from texturing and shaders through to rigging and character animation. It was when I was taken on at Jim Henson's Creature Shop things really started to move rapidly for me. From then on I worked sourly as a character animator at Nexus Productions, Moving Picture Company, Double Negative and a number of Post companies in Australia, Canada and Spain. Over the years I have worked in many areas of CG from Music Promos and live visuals to Film and TV for the likes of Nickelodeon, Pepsi, Orange and Honda. My interests don't just lie within animation. A number of years ago I got involved with Vjing (projecting live visuals to music) with an ex work colleague. It started off as a hobby but soon took off taking me to Morocco, Barcelona and a number of music festivals in the UK. It also led to a number of stop-frame animation workshops for summer schools. I feel with a little imagination, the art of character animation can help out in so many other areas. I continue with the same enthusiasm as I had from the start and feel even after 10 years there is so much to learn from others. Last year I enrolled onto Animation Mentor to push my character skills. I feel I am now learning new skills faster than ever and look forward the future in this continuously changing and exciting industry.
